Will Antitrust Probes Spread Beyond Microsoft?

The European Union is challenging Microsoft Relevant Products/Services on antitrust laws again, but legal experts warn the ongoing investigations against Redmond could trickle down to other U.S. companies.European Commission regulators on Monday said they have initiated two formal antitrust investigations against Microsoft. The investigations fall under two separate categories of alleged infringements of European Commission treaty rules. The first case deals with interoperability. The second relates to tying separate software products together. Specifically, Internet Explorer and Microsoft Office have fallen under scrutiny.

Apple Security Risks Surface During Macworld

With Apple fans focused on the buzz surrounding Macworld this week, news of vulnerabilities and attacks that could wreak havoc on Apple users may be falling on distracted ears.Security researchers are reporting two issues that Apple users need to hear about. The first is a Microsoft Relevant Products/Services security Relevant Products/Services advisory warning of a vulnerability in several versions of Microsoft Office Excel. This affects both Windows and Mac OS users. The second is a scareware program targeting Mac users.
