Microsoft Slahes Xbox 360 Price, Offers New Editions

is readying its Xbox 360 video game console for the holiday shopping frenzy with new titles — and a price cut.On Monday, Microsoft announced it would slash the price of its Xbox 360 by $50. The console now retails for $349.99 with a 20-GB hard drive, wireless controller, Xbox 360 headset, and other standard accessories. What’s more, Electronic Arts will release its blockbuster video game title “Madden NFL 08″ on August 14.
“The fact that we have been able to keep our launch price longer than any other console while retaining our leadership position demonstrates that consumers believe in the value of Xbox 360,” Mitch Koch, corporate vice president in the entertainment and devices division at Microsoft, said in a statement.
