Sony Unveils Four New Digital Cameras

Although the dust has settled on the 2007 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Sony Relevant Products/Services is still busy making new product announcements. This week, the electronics giant unveiled four new digital cameras in its Cyer-shot line. All four models — the DSC-W55, DSC-W35, DSC-S700, and DSC-S650 — offer 3x optical zoom, blur-reduction, and internal memory for storing shots without a media card present.

Sony hopes its new models will defy industry reports that predict the market for digital cameras is leveling off. Research firm IC Insights expects digital camera revenues to hold steady at $18 billion a year now that most photographers and camera-toting consumers have transitioned from analog to digital.

As the market levels off, according to IC Insights, digital camera makers will begin to focus on consumers looking to upgrade their photo-taking abilities by offering more powerful image processors, wireless connectivity for transferring pictures, and more memory.
